 4 accused of selling alcohol to minor; worker gets jail in theft from home





 Four store clerks in the towns of Pawling and Dover are facing charges for allegedly selling alcoholic beverages to an underage patron.
On Monday, New York State Police and State Liquor Authority personnel conducted an underage drinking enforcement operation. An 18-year-old volunteer tried to buy beer or wine at 11 stores. The minimum legal age to purchase alcohol in New York is 21.
Four clerks were charged with prohibited sale of alcohol, a misdemeanor. They were issued appearance tickets to local courts and released. Their employers face penalties imposed by the State Liquor Authority.
The stores those clerks were employed at are Wingdale Beer and Soda in Dover, Wingdale Food and Gas in Dover, Pawling Beer and Soda in Pawling and La Guadalupana in Pawling. The Journal does not print the names of those charged with misdemeanors.

Teen dies in Mahopac crash


- A 19-year-old Mahopac man died Friday evening when the 1990 BMW he was driving left the road on Baldwin Place Road in the area ofMahopac High School and struck a school building around 11:26 p.m., according to Carmel Police.
The name of the man has been withheld until family can be notified.
Carmel police officers, members of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire & Ambulance and Transcare Paramedic responded to the scene, providing medical assistance to the driver, who later died, police said.
Putnam County Sheriff's deputies and an accident reconstruction team are assisting with the investigation. No cause has yet been determined for the accident.

3 injured after pickup lands on a Subaru on I-684

Serious car crash, I-684 Katonah


 As many as three people were injured Thursday when a pickup truck traveling north on Interstate 684 jumped the guardrail, went into the southbound lanes and struck five cars as it rolled over before landing on a Subaru, officials said.
The full extent of the injuries was not immediately clear, but state police said they appeared not to be life-threatening.
The victims were said to be conscious and alert at the scene. They were taken to area hospitals, with at least two taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
